Our Front Office

Is it fair to call some people in the front office stupid for choosing draft pick busts?

A lot of people question the integrity of the chargers front office for drafting leaf over manning, even though there was no indication whatsoever that manning would be great or that ryan would defecate all over the charger franchise and run it to the ground when he started. Is it really fair to call them stupid for such a draft pick?

  1. it is not. these people spend countless hours watching tape, losing countless hours of sleep over decisions like this. who knew ryan leaf would turn out to be a bust? who knew that tom brady was a gem waiting to be discovered, in the 6th round no less? people cant be blamed for one bad draft...4 or 5 bad drafts, yes. but one, no. that said, someone in detroit's front offices should have been fired a long time ago.
  2. No, they have no idea how they're gonna do in the NFL. For all we know, Matt Ryan or Darren McFadden may be a bust. All you can really do is take a look at their workouts, combine numbers, interviews, and make the best possible guess.
  3. no man it not them who r busts it's the players and leaf was thought to be a better than Payton in the long run
  4. First of all the Chargers never even had a chance at Peyton Manning. He was chosen #1 overall. They took Leaf at #2. But to answer your question I feel that they can't be blamed for majority of the bad picks they make. Unless you go out and draft some guy in the Top 10 just because of his workout at the combine, and his pro day. Then you should be blamed, because you should be drafting a player because of what you see on the game tape. It's not always about measurables, and 40 times.
